이담은 두 가지 뜻을 가집니다.
하나는 우리말 '이야기를 담은'의 앞 글자를 딴 말이고, 둘은 고대 산스크리트어 idam — '지금, 여기에'라는 뜻입니다.
그래서 이담 스튜디오는 지금, 여기의 이야기를 담는 곳입니다.
Idam carries two meanings.
One is a Korean abbreviation of "이야기를 담은" — meaning "stories contained within." The other is the ancient Sanskrit word idam — meaning "here and now."
Idam Studio is a place that holds the stories of here and now.
비전Vision
이담 스튜디오는 그것을 위해 존재하고 역할을 하고 싶어 합니다. 우리가 할 수 있는 것은 매우 소소한 일들입니다. 지금, 여기의 삶을 기록하고 또 표현해서 그걸 본 누군가의 하루를 견디게 하는 작은 역할입니다.
이담 스튜디오는 이야기에서 출발해 기술과 구조로 나아가며 인간의 삶이 소외되지 않는 발전을 고민합니다. 우리는 빠른 답보다는 오래 남는 중심을 선택합니다. 조금 더 행복한 그런 세상을 꿈꿉니다.
'To make life something that can be endured.'That is why Idam Studio exists, and the role we wish to play. What we can do is small — recording and expressing the lives of here and now, playing a quiet part in helping someone, somewhere, get through their day.
Idam Studio moves from story toward craft and structure, always asking how progress can be made without leaving human lives behind. We choose a lasting center over a quick answer. We dream of a world that is, just a little, happier.
감독Director
백승우 감독은 삶과 존재에 관한 주제를 꾸준히 고민해온 영화 연출가입니다.
대표작 〈천안함 프로젝트〉에서는 현대사의 비극적 사건을 깊이 성찰하며, 단순한 사실 너머에 있는 우리 사회의 경직성 — 소통의 부재를 짚어냈습니다. 이후로도 그는 거대한 역사와 작은 개인 사이에서, 개인과 개인 사이에서, 또 내 안의 나와 나 사이에서 말해지지 못한 것들을, 그리고 인식하지 못한 것들을 카메라에 담으려 노력해왔습니다.
이담 스튜디오는 그 여정의 이름입니다.
지금, 여기의 이야기를 담으며 — 누군가의 하루를 조금 더 견디게 하는 영화를 만들어갑니다.
Baek, Seung-woo is a filmmaker who has long pondered questions of life and existence.
His documentary PROJECT CHEONAN SHIP looked beyond the facts of a national tragedy to examine something quieter and more unsettling — a society that had lost its capacity for open doubt. Since then, he has continued to turn his camera toward the unspoken: the small, overlooked moments caught between history and the individual.
Idam Studio is the name of that journey.
Capturing the stories of here and now — making films that help someone, somewhere, get through the day.
